Seaweed- The Super Food You’re Not Eating

If you like sushi you may have tried seaweed on one of your sushi rolls but have you ever thought about picking it up to snack on? Seaweed is filled with antioxidants, broad range of vitamins and calcium. Seaweed’s best-known benefit is that it is an extraordinary source of a nutrient missing in almost every other food: iodine. Consuming healthy levels of iodine is critically important to maintaining a healthy thyroid. A malfunctioning thyroid can result in a wide range of symptoms such as fatigue, muscle weakness and high cholesterol. In untreated cases, it can lead to serious medical conditions like heart palpitations and impaired memory. A few benefits of seaweed is that it can help regulate estrogen and estradiol levels. Which is said to potentially reduce the risk of breast cancer. Seaweed may also help to control PMS and improve female fertility issues. Seaweed is an extraordinarily potent source of antioxidants and also helps prevent inflammation, which can contribute to arthritis, celiac disease, asthma, depression and obesity. I love snacking on seaweed instead of a bag of chips that’s just basically empty calories. You might as well eat something healthy! Seaweed can be very flavorful with a healthy dose of antioxidants and iodine.  Just try not to eat an ocean’s worth. 🙂
Love & Light,
Kelcie
