How we treat our body and what we nourish our bodies with has a huge effect on our skin and overall health. It can prevent or even reverse aging. Processed foods, stress, toxins and low nutrient diets will accelerate the aging process. Protecting yourself from harmful chemicals in foods, getting enough sleep, relaxation and exercise will help you maintain that healthy glow. Here are a few things that will help!
Drink plenty of water- Even being a little dehydrated will take a toll on your skin causing it to look flaky, dull, saggy and loose.
Eat foods with antioxidants- Antioxidants will help your body fight disease and aging by reducing damage and inflammation. Try eating more blueberries, pomegranates, acai berries, goji berries, spinach, raspberries, nuts, seeds, purple grapes, dark chocolate or organic green tea.
Eat organic foods- Avoid GMO’s
Limit your sun exposure- Small amounts of sun produce vitamin D and are very beneficial, but too much sun will damage your skin.
Use safe natural skin products- Know exactly what you are putting on your body.
Use non-toxic cleaning products- Limit toxic chemicals because the skin absorbs them.
Own a plant- A plant in your home or by your desk at work will act as an air filter.
Get enough vitamin C- vitamin C leads to fewer wrinkles.
Avoid sugar- Sugar can lead to damaged collagen and elastin which can cause wrinkles.
Eat healthy fats- Fatty acids are crucial for your skin to look youthful.
Make sure you are getting enough sleep and exercise. If you are not already consider adding in some yoga!
