Jackfruit

Hello beautiful souls!

So many people ask if I miss certain foods after going vegan, one of the foods that I mention often and that has been hard to duplicate until recently is pulled pork. Did you know that a fruit could taste similar? I was mind blown! I never thought this could even be a possibility. Next time you are in the grocery store pick up some jackfruit and try it out!

Jackfruit is mainly cultivated in tropical or close to tropical climates. It is considered as the largest tree-borne fruit in the world. It also has so many health benefits such as:

Strengthens your immune system- Jackfruit is an awesome source of vitamin C. This essential vitamin protects against viral and bacterial infections. It also helps by supporting the white blood cells function.

Protects against cancer- Jackfruit is also rich in phytonutrients such as lignans, insoflavones and saponins which have anti-cancer and anti-aging properties. These phytonutrients may help eliminate cancer-causing free radicals from the body and slow the degeneration of cells that can lead to diseases.

Aids in healthy digestion- This particular fruit is also known to contain anti-ulcer properties which help cure ulcers and digestive disorders. The high fiber in jackfruit also prevents constipation.

Maintain healthy eye and skin- Jackfruit contains vitamin A, a powerfrul nutrient which is known to maintain a healthy eye and skin. It also helps prevent vision-related problems such as macular degeneration and night blindness.

Boost energy- Jackfruit is considered a high energy generating fruit due to the presence of simple sugars like fructose and sucrose which give you an almost immediate energy boost. This is a really healthy fruit to eat because it contains no saturated fats or cholesterol with these simple sugars.

Lowers high blood pressure- Potassium in jackfruit has been found to lower blood pressure reducing heart attack and stroke.

Strengthening the bone- Jackfruit is rich in magnesium, which is an ingredient important in the absorption of calcium and works with calcium to strengthen the bone and prevent bone related disorders.

Prevent anemia- Jackfruit also contains iron which helps to prevent anemia and helps in proper blood circulation in our body.

Maintain a healthy thyroid- Copper plays an important role in the thyroid metabolism, especially in hormone production and absorption, jackfruit is loaded with this important micromineral.
