Chia Seeds

I absolutely love chia seed. I place them in my salads, in my shakes, cereal and sometimes even on top of my rice. You can also add it in puddings, yogurts and in baked goods. Some cultures use these seeds as an energy booster. The seeds contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids, protein, carbohydrates, calcium, fiber and antioxidants! Pretty awesome right? The plant grows in South America and it delivers so many nutrients with only a few calories. Since chia has a high protein and fiber content they will help you lose weight. The fiber absorbs large amounts of water and expands in the stomach, increasing fullness and slows the absorption of food. The protein in chia seeds will help reduce your appetite and food intake. You can usually find bags of chia seeds in health stores and local grocery stores. When you eat chia seeds dry they have a poppy seed taste, but when they are soaked they become sweet like tapioca pearls. They are really good! I just found this website with some really cool Chia Seed recipes. I will definetely be trying them out. Check out the website!
